Church To Offer Worship Services For Dogs

Barking Won't Be Banned During Service

POSTED: 4:05 pm EDT May 5, 2010

DANVERS, Mass. --
A Massachusetts church is scheduled to launch a new monthly worship service -- for dogs.
Calvary Episcopal Church will offer later this month its first "Perfect Paws Pet Ministry" aimed at giving area pooches and their owners improved odds at getting canines into heaven. The Danvers church plans to hold the service on the third Sunday of every month, complete with communion for the humans and special blessings for pets. Dogs will get special treats.
Church officials said well-mannered, leashed dogs are invited. People can submit a paper prayer if their pets are sick, not good around other dogs or deceased. Prayers can also be offered for other types of pets.
Rev. Thea Keith-Lucas told The Salem News dogs will have a say during service because barking won't be banned.

h their friends. Wags Park is located in Newtown and has 2 man made ponds for your dogs to swim in and also a doggie playground with an agility course setup. Also next door to the park is a self wash "WAG-O-MAT" where you can wash your own dog just in case he needs a bath after playing all day with his friends.

Best Friends Pet Care donates dog hair for a good cause!

I’m sure you have all heard of the massive oil spill in the gulf. Clean up efforts are underway, and we actually have an amazing opportunity to help! A non profit organization called Matter of Trust is collecting donations of clean hair and fur of all kinds to clean up the oil in the ocean. Hair is hydrophobic which means it repels water, it is also great for absorbing oil (greasy hair means that hair collects oil). So Matter of Trust has volunteers making devices called hair mats and hair booms out of recycled hair and nylons- which are then placed in the water to soak up the oil. After this big spill, hair is in high demand- and we can help!

So we here at Best Friends Pet Care are recycling our dogs hair to help in the gulf. So if you want to help the crisis in the gulf schedule a haircut or shedicure grooming appointment today with Sharon.

Introducing Rumba

Kelly at Best Friends Pet Care lost her dalmation Chance in June 2009 to prostate cancer.  Chance was 15 ears old and still had a lot of spunk in his old age. Kelly was not ready for a new dog but she knew one day she would have another dog. She has always had animals in her life from cats, dogs, chinchillas, birds to even a stepdog at work named Harley a golden Retriever that sits at the desk with her everyday! Well, around March one of her employees was driving down the road and found a sweet black and tan hound/lab mix in the road. He decided to bring it to work to see if we could find the owner but nobody claimed this great dog.
Rumba is about 1 year old and is potty trained and has manners.(not your typical dump or lost dog) Since then Kelly had agreed to foster Rumba and now she has a permanent bed in Kelly's house. Kelly and her boyfriend fell in love with Rumba and decided to keep her. Now the cat wasn't to sure about a dog moving in though....lol

Moral of the story is if you are blessed with the opportunity to rescue a homeless pet, please do.  So many dogs need homes right now that many are being euthanized everyday for overcrowding in the shelters and many rescues are so full, they can not take in anymore homeless pets.
